Chiropractic mobilisation techniques are low-velocity, controlled manual movements applied to a joint to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore normal motion. They differ from high-velocity spinal manipulation (the quick “thrust” that may produce a pop).

• Slow, repetitive movements within or at the limit of the joint’s normal range
• No sudden thrust and usually no cavitation (cracking sound)
• Performed with the patient relaxed and supported
• Often graded from very gentle to firmer depending on symptoms

• Acute pain or muscle guarding
• Older adults or osteoporotic patients
• Post-injury or post-surgical stiffness (when cleared)
• Patients uncomfortable with thrust manipulation
• Neck pain, headaches, low back pain, joint stiffness
• Reduced pain and muscle spasm
• Improved joint range of motion
• Better tolerance compared to manipulation
• Can be combined with exercise and rehab
