Mobilisation

Chiropractic mobilisation techniques are low-velocity, controlled manual movements applied to a joint to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore normal motion. They differ from high-velocity spinal manipulation (the quick “thrust” that may produce a pop).

What mobilisation involves

• Slow, repetitive movements within or at the limit of the joint’s normal range

• No sudden thrust and usually no cavitation (cracking sound)

• Performed with the patient relaxed and supported

• Often graded from very gentle to firmer depending on symptoms

When mobilisation is preferred

• Acute pain or muscle guarding

• Older adults or osteoporotic patients

• Post-injury or post-surgical stiffness (when cleared)

• Patients uncomfortable with thrust manipulation

• Neck pain, headaches, low back pain, joint stiffness

Benefits

• Reduced pain and muscle spasm

• Improved joint range of motion

• Better tolerance compared to manipulation

• Can be combined with exercise and rehab

I cannot rate Indygo Chiropractic high enough. The care and attention given by this family run business is exceptional. I always leave feeling both freer in movement and emotionally better. Indy is all about looking after his clients holistically which in this day and age is refreshing and so important. 5 stars isn’t enough!!!

I posted a 5 star review of Indy's excellent treatment some time ago, but have now decided to update it following a new back problem. I began to develop pain in my lower back about 18 months ago and asked about it at a regular maintainence appointment. Indy treated me with his usual care and attention to detail, but because I was not responding well he suggested I visit my GP.

Indy has been looking after me for the past 3 years. The location has lots of parking, easy to get too. Clean and comfortable clinic spaces with pleasant soft music. He keeps all my aches and pains under control which allows me to carry on working as a surgeon. Very professional and caring.

I started seeing Indy in September 2022. I had pain in both knees which was causing me issues with carrying any kind of load, kneeling and running. Sometimes I would even have pain when sitting in a car on long journeys.

Went to see Indy suffering from pain from a broken back a number of months previous and later with tendon pain in my wrist. Indy has been brilliant in diagnosis of the exact nature of my pains, making sure he had a full picture of my health before treating correctly. It wasn’t long before my pains disappeared and I was able to lead my life normally without neck & back pains interfering with it. Highly recommend for his knowledge & skill along with professionalism & attention to detail.
